About project

Project Support to inclusive education and training for everyday life for children and youth with disabilities will be jointly implemented by Day care centre for children and youth with disabilities Pljevlja and Primary school Dimitrije Tucovic under the third Call for Proposal of Cross Border programme Serbia-Montenegro. Project is funded by the Delegation of the European Union.

Project implementation will be significantly supported by local partners: Day care centre for children and youth with disabilities Berane, Gymnasium "Tanasije Pejatovic", NGO of Parents of Children with Disabilities "The Ray of Hope", Association of Citizens Zlatibor Circle and Primary school for education of children with disabilities "Miodrag V. Matic".

Project implementation started on 17th October 2016 and will last for 15 months.

The overall objective of the project

The overall objective of the project is improvement of social inclusion and quality of life of children and youth with disabilities (CYWD) in Montenegro and Serbia through the development of cooperation in the cross-border regions and the use and sharing of human resources and achievements.

The specific objective of the project

The specific objective of the project is provision of a higher level of access to quality education and acquiring skills necessary for everyday life of CYWD in schools and day care centers in Montenegro and Serbia applying assistive technology through the establishment of cross-border cooperation and development of technical and human resources and peer support.

Expected results

- Established adequate cross-border infrastructure to support the application of assistive technology for CYWD;
- Streighten of capacities for the application of assistive technology;
- Developed volunteer service and social interaction between children and youth with and without disabilities;
- Increased community awareness about the rights of CYWD.

Target groups

Target groups of the project are: seven schools, two NGOs, three DCCs, two preschool institution, children and youth with disabilities (CYWD), their parents, children without disabilities, teachers and experts from these institutions from Cajetina, Uzice, Pljevlja and Berane.

Beneficiaries of the project, which is supported by the Delegation of the European Union, in partnership with similar institutions, local authorities, social care centers and educational institutions, through capacity building will ensure the sustainably use of assistive technology which enables high-quality inclusive education. During the project, specialized educations for more than 200 teachers, experts, parents as well as CYWD will be organized with the aim of improvement of their competence in the use of assistive technology. In addition, two centers for assistive technology will be established and equipped as well as four volunteer services, thus the project will serve as pilot for institutionalization of the assistive technology in the educational and social systems of both countries providing equal opportunities for children and youth with disabilities.

Intensive communication plan will foster the visibility and raise the project profile in the public, and beside that inform relevant stakeholders that should make every effort to improve inclusive education and skills of CYWD in cross border region on the principals of "equal opportunities" and "freedom of choice in accordance with individual abilities".
